Faculty of Interior Design

The National School of Design is an affiliate with Saurashtra University, which presently focuses on a Bachelors degree in Interior Design. This academic institute is formed to play a specialised role in the field and offers an integrated full-time professional education program of three years(six semesters).

The aim is to enhance and reflect the physical and metaphysical aspects of human being, the sense of function, efficiency, appropriateness in the use of material exploitation of technology best suited to the physical and socio-cultural environmental context with a due respect to our aesthetic, deep cultural traditions and heritage, which read as a deep understanding of environmental context.

Education at Faculty of Interior Design addresses its responsibility at both micro and macro level; and, as a profession and its impact on society. It aims at preparing an individual to think creatively, reflect and respond sensitively with conscious choices. The curriculum is an evolution from a broad-based environmental approach as against a narrow design based orientation, to integrate general awareness, skill and perception, arts and humanities, technology and design education which is recognized to inculcate the mind to perceive environmental context of man and society, to interpret it through developed skills of expression. The program is categorized into four overall areas of involvement in that total teaching program with specific objective at every stage.

CURRICULUM

DESIGN
To conceive in the mind with a purpose. Scan as a dialectic process for resolution of an abstraction through analysis and synthesis of subjective and objective propositions meaning to an end. Responsive of contextual issues within the purview of commodity, firmness, delight. To establish the process as an organic evolution. To reverse the erosion of values and meanings and to enhance a sense of philosophy of one’s own.

Semester 5 and 6 - LIVE PROJECTS integrated with internship
